小鎮青年蕃薯剛出獄，只想自力更生、安份踏實過日子，卻頭頭碰著黑，一邊在海灘做些不賺錢的工作，一邊聯絡舊同學或朋友，企圖為自己找份工作。不想走回頭路，但過去的人事物卻總如幽魂般纏繞著他：一直潛水的黑幫老大、負債累累的老媽，以及專門製造麻煩的老友等。人生像煙花，是燦爛耀眼抑或稍縱即逝？但無論如何機會都只得一次。

Ex-convict Sweet Potato has been desperately trying to go straight. However, his criminal past always finds its way to catch up to him — his old gang boss, whom he has never met, his mother, who thrusts all her debts upon him, and his buddy, who makes nothing but trouble. One after the other, they regain control over his present life, leaving him no hope for a new future.
