Dr. Mengheng Chen and Dr. Primoz Parovel are both professors at Tsinghua University in Hsinchu. They collaborate since 2020 together. For this concert they've chosen a program consisting of baroque, classic and contemporary compositions, works of Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Hindemith, Keller and Kellner.
Many compositions have been rearranged for this duo: Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Hindemith. The German composers C. J. Keller wrote Petite suite originally for this duo and so it is also the composition of W. Kellner: Morse … new composed.
In the Flute concerto by Vivaldi, Meng-Heng Chen will demonstrate her brilliant skills on recorder. P. Hindemith composed his "Ploen Music Day" for the music festival in the "State Educational Institute" in Plön on June 20, 1932. Joseph Haydn composed special music for musical clocks. In the clocks were small mechanical organs. You will listen to 8 different short compositions arranged for recorder and accordion.
After the break there will be the first original composition by C. J. Keller ‘Petite Suite: on the program. The piece consist of 6 short movements in traditional style, like: Prelude, Valse , Sarabande, Gigue and Postludium. Mozart wrote his Sonata in A-major, KV12 at only 8 years. Both artists found the piece very interesting to present it on their instruments to the audience.
The last piece on the program will be ‘Morse…” by W. Kellner. The piece uses a morse code performed on instruments with a special message: “Help the People. War is not a Language.” Regarding what is happening in the current world it is a very relevant message.
Both artists are masters of their instruments. Recorder and accordion are the instruments, which need air to start sounding. From this point of view they are very similar and offer many possibilities of interaction. You will enjoy a wide range of music through different periods of time in a new dimension.
