✶一場關於人類感知能力的深刻寓言

宇宙的隱形結構，引發一場感知的探問：我們所處的世界，充滿了看不見的結構與力量。科學家告訴我們，肉眼可見、儀器可測的星辰、塵埃乃至我們自身，僅佔宇宙總體組成的5%以下。而那其餘佔據宇宙超過95%的浩瀚存在，由神秘的暗物質（Dark Matter）與暗能量構成。特別是暗物質，它如同宇宙中一張巨大、隱形的網，其引力牽引著星系的形成與運轉，默默塑造了我們所知的宇宙樣貌。它無處不在，甚至此刻就可能穿過我們的身體，卻幾乎不與光、不與任何我們熟悉的方式互動。我們看不見它，也摸不著它。

這個巨大、明明存在卻無法觸及的未知狀態，深深吸引了編舞家暨新媒體藝術家蘇文琪。作為一位長期探索身體與科技關係的創作者，她不禁思考：如果連最先進的科學儀器都難以捕捉暗物質，我們是否能用另一種方式——用我們的身體，我們的感知——去貼近、去「感覺」這股塑造宇宙的隱藏力量？這便是VR沉浸式展演《暗宇之感》的創作起點，一場試圖以藝術回應宇宙終極謎團的感官探索。

自2016年在瑞士歐洲核子研究組織（CERN）駐村起，藝術與科學的對話便成為蘇文琪創作的核心路徑之一。她發現，儘管科學家與藝術家描述世界的方式迥異，但對於宇宙奧秘（如重力、黑洞、暗物質）的無限想像力與探問精神卻是共通的。這份經驗促使她持續透過藝術實踐，轉譯科學概念中的詩意與哲思，而非進行科普解說。在創作VR作品《黑洞博物館＋身體瀏覽器》探索重力概念後，蘇文琪決定更深入地探究關於暗物質的主題。

為了創作《暗宇之感》，蘇文琪與其團隊YILAB一當代舞團展開了一系列跨國、跨領域的深度合作。他們攜手澳洲墨爾本大學的ARC暗物質粒子物理卓越研究中心（ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics），並與該中心主任、實驗物理學家伊麗莎白・芭貝里奧（Elisabetta Barberio）教授，以及曾在CERN合作、來自西班牙的理論物理學家迪亞歌・布拉斯（Diego Blas）博士進行了深入對話。更關鍵的是，團隊實際前往位於澳洲維多利亞州、地下一公里深的斯托爾地下物理實驗室（Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory, SUPL），一個隔絕宇宙射線、專門探測暗物質的獨特場域，進行駐地研究與實地採集。

在這趟深入地底的旅程中，舞者的身體扮演了敏銳的「探測器」。在SUPL幽暗、恆溫恆濕的礦坑隧道中，舞者田孝慈不僅用身體回應空間的物理特性——氣壓、濕度、寂靜與潛藏的能量流動，更試圖將科學家關於暗物質粒子行為的龐雜理論、數據與猜想，轉譯為直觀的動作語彙和能量狀態。接著，團隊運用3D掃描與全身動態捕捉（Motion Capture）技術，將舞者細微的身體語彙轉化為數位化的粒子。在VR的虛擬宇宙中，這些粒子不再僅是模擬人形，它們更像是承載了科學家對暗物質動態的猜想，幻化成漂浮、流動、交織的星塵，引導觀眾的目光與感知。

《暗宇之感》的目標並非製作一部科學紀錄片，而是創造一個讓觀眾能「體感」暗物質的沉浸式環境。因此，聲音扮演了與視覺同等重要的角色。聲音設計師吳秉聖特別為此作建構了精密的多聲道環繞聲場系統（64聲道 Ambisonics）。在虛擬空間中的每一次轉頭、每一次移動，甚至每一次呼吸，都可能觸發聲音細微的變化。整個宇宙隱匿的低語、粒子碰撞的想像、空間的迴響，彷彿就在耳邊流動，讓聽覺成為在黑暗中導航、感知空間的重要依據。

製作《暗宇之感》，對蘇文琪與團隊而言，是一次重新學習「感知」的過程。在這個資訊爆炸、事事追求透明與解析的時代，神秘和未知似乎變得稀少。但藝術家相信，人類內心深處依然需要一些無法被完全解釋、無法被完全掌控的存在，如同暗物質，如同我們對宇宙的好奇，對生命本身的探問。《暗宇之感》是一件高度跨國合作的成果，由臺北表演藝術中心與澳洲墨爾本亞太表演藝術三年展 (Asia TOPA)、荷蘭烏特勒支春天藝術節 (SPRING Performing Arts Festival)與香港西九文化區 (WestK)共同製作，並獲得澳洲墨爾本科學畫廊（Science Gallery Melbourne）的支持完成世界首演。

即使在最深沉的黑暗處，在失重的虛空中，人類的意識與身體，依然可以起舞、漂浮，回應著那無聲卻深刻的牽引。與「不可見」共存的狀態，或許正是我們在這個時代，仍然需要藝術、仍然需要舞蹈的理由。《暗宇之感》邀請您一同潛入這片黑暗，釋放五感，用身體，去感受宇宙的未知。

【藝術家介紹】

蘇文琪是編舞家及新媒體藝術家，2005年創立YILAB一當代舞團，致力於新媒體與表演藝術的創新融合。YILAB的獨特創作理念認為：作品中不存在單一中心媒介，而是由看似相同卻相互衝擊的概念構成；每位參與創作的藝術家都是獨立個體，能自由提出觀點，深入探索作品核心命題。 自成立以來，YILAB的表演與展覽足跡遍布全球具指標性的藝術平台：台灣的牯嶺街國際劇場藝術節、台北數位藝術節；南韓光州亞洲藝術劇院、Loop Lab Busan；法國巴黎Arcadi、南特SCOPITONE；比利時布魯塞爾Kunstenfestivaldesarts、魯汶STUK；德國波茨坦舞蹈日；以及葡萄牙里斯本InShadow、希臘卡拉馬塔國際舞蹈節、瑞士日內瓦Sparks CERN、La Bâtie、澳洲Asia TOPA…等。 2016年起，蘇文琪展開科學與藝術的跨領域創作計劃，通過工作坊、研討會與表演形式，與藝術家及科學家共同從量子物理與天文學中探索科技的內涵與哲學思考。她的作品曾獲多項國際肯定，包括《身體輿圖》入選2013世界舞台設計展舞台設計獎、《微幅W.A.V.E.》榮獲2017世界舞台設計展另類設計金獎，以及《黑洞博物館+身體瀏覽器》入圍2023法國安錫國際動畫影展VR單元。

蘇文琪積極參與國際藝術交流與合作，曾受邀於瑞士弗里堡Belluard Bollwerk的Watch & Talk計劃、瑞士日內瓦科學與藝術工作坊、德國法蘭克福國際書展開幕印尼歌劇《Gandari》擔任編舞，以及日本媒體藝術中心YCAM舞蹈與科技計劃、廣藝科技表演藝術節《萬有引力的下午》舞蹈設計等。她也活躍於國際教學領域，主持過印尼舞蹈節新媒體與舞蹈工作坊、香港西九文化區《新作論壇：多媒體與舞蹈創作》、台北藝術大學科技與藝術中心《身體與物質：科學與表演工作坊》與新加坡藝術節《新媒體與表演工作坊》等。 2021年，蘇文琪與瑞士奢華保養品牌LA PRAIRIE萊珀妮合作的藝術作品在巴塞爾藝術展邁阿密海灘展會獨家展出，展現其跨界創作的獨特魅力。她曾獲第九屆台新藝術獎評審團特別獎的殊榮，並於2024年受邀參與雲門春鬥，持續拓展其藝術疆界。

【About the Performance】

"Sensing Dark Matter" is an innovative virtual reality experience created by SU Wen-Chi and YILAB. This immersive project emerged from an artistic residency in Melbourne, where the creators delved into the intersection of art and cutting-edge physics.

The artists collaborated closely with physicists at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Particle Physics and explored the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory, gaining profound insights into dark matter research. These scientific encounters shaped the artistic vision, resulting in a speculative reality where advanced technology allows the perception of dark matter.

Central to the experience is an exploration of gravity's role in the cosmos, particularly how dark matter influences gravitational forces. The VR journey transports participants into a mesmerizing universe where the invisible becomes tangible, allowing users to "sense" the elusive fabric of dark matter and its gravitational effects.

Through VR headsets and spatial audio, viewers navigate an artistically interpreted cosmos where dark matter manifests in unexpected and awe-inspiring ways. This sensory adventure challenges conventional notions of reality and our understanding of the universe's hidden forces.

"Sensing Dark Matter" offers a unique, sci-fi-inspired artistic interpretation of our relationship with the unseen elements shaping our universe. By reimagining complex scientific concepts through a creative lens, the project makes abstract ideas accessible to a broader audience, bridging the gap between scientific research and artistic expression.

【Artist Profile】

SU Wen-Chi

SU Wen-Chi is a choreographer, and new media artist who founded YILAB in 2005, dedicated to innovative integration of new media and performing arts. YILAB's unique creative philosophy holds that: works don't have a single central medium, but rather consist of concepts that appear similar yet impact each other; every artist participating in creation is an independent entity who can freely express their viewpoints and deeply explore the core themes of the work. Since its establishment, YILAB's performances and exhibitions have appeared at significant art platforms worldwide: Taiwan's Guling Street International Theatre Festival, Taipei Digital Art Festival; Asian Arts Theatre in Gwangju and Loop Lab Busan in South Korea; Arcadi and SCOPITONE in France; Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Belgium; Potsdam Dance Days in Germany; as well as InShadow Lisbon in Portugal, Kalamata International Dance Festival in Greece, Sparks CERN and La Bâtie in Geneva, Switzerland, Asia TOPA in Australia, among others. Since 2016, SU Wen-Chi has embarked on interdisciplinary creative projects bridging science and art, working with artists and scientists through workshops, seminars, and performances to explore the philosophical implications of quantum physics and astronomy. Her works have received international recognition, including "Off the Map" being selected for the 2013 World Stage Design Exhibition, "W.A.V.E." winning the 2017 World Stage Design Alternative Design Gold Award, and "Black Hole Museum + Body Browser" being nominated for the 2023 Annecy International Animation Film Festival VR section. SU Wen-Chi actively participates in international artistic exchange and collaboration, having been invited to Switzerland's Belluard Bollwerk Watch & Talk program, Geneva Science and Art Workshop, choreographing for the Indonesian opera "Gandari" at the Frankfurt Book Fair opening, as well as YCAM Dance and Technology Project in Japan, and dance design for

"L’Après-midi de la Gravité" at the Quanta Tech Art & Performance Festival. She is also active in international teaching, having led workshops including the Indonesian Dance Festival's New Media and Dance Workshop, Hong Kong West Kowloon Cultural District's "New Works Forum: Multimedia and Dance Creation," Taipei National University of the Arts Technology and Art Center's "Body and Matter: Science and Performance Workshop," and Singapore Arts Festival's "New Media and Performance Workshop." In 2021, SU Wenchi's artistic collaboration with Swiss luxury skincare brand LA PRAIRIE was exclusively exhibited at Art Basel Miami Beach, demonstrating her unique cross-disciplinary creative charm. She has received the Special Jury Award at the 9th Taishin Arts Award and was invited to participate in Cloud Gate's Spring Riot 2024, continuously expanding her artistic boundaries.

YILAB

YILAB was founded by SU Wen-Chi in 2005, reimagining the possibilities of contemporary performing arts through a unique cross-media perspective. The company embraces a creative philosophy that "no single central medium exists within a work; rather, it is composed of concepts that appear similar yet collide with one another." Within this creative ecosystem, each artist maintains their individual identity, freely expressing perspectives while collectively exploring the deeper meaning behind each project's core themes. YILAB's distinctive creative approach lies in its skillful integration of dance, visual art, and new media art, exploring the multiple relationships between body and technology in the digital age through fluid forms of expression. 【Important Information】

◎ The total duration of the program is approximately 45 minutes. The performance includes both wearable equipment usage and the actual VR experience. There is no intermission.

◎ Suggested Age 6+ years old.

◎ Latecomers and re-entry subject to discretion.

◎ A brief VR instructional session and safety briefing (approximately 5–10 minutes) will be conducted before the performance.

◎ VR equipment must be worn and adjusted according to staff instructions. Any damage caused by improper handling without guidance will require compensation at full value.

◎ The use of VR equipment is not recommended for individuals who are pregnant or have heart conditions, high blood pressure, epilepsy, acrophobia, or other serious medical conditions.

◎ Some individuals may experience discomfort such as dizziness or nausea while using VR equipment. Please assess your physical condition before purchasing tickets.

◎ If you experience any physical discomfort during the performance, please close your eyes and raise your hand to signal staff for assistance.

◎ Since VR headsets limit your ability to see the outside environment, please follow all staff instructions in case of emergency.

◎ To ensure safety during movement in the experience, all personal belongings will be stored in a designated area. Please keep valuables with you. The venue provides storage space but does not assume responsibility for the safekeeping of items.

◎ All VR equipment will be thoroughly sanitized before and after use. Please rest assured.
