三十年來，英國傳奇男中音布萊恩．特菲爾以渾厚嗓音和藝術造詣，感動全球無數樂迷。他自歐洲各大聲樂賽事崛起，隨即征服世界歌劇殿堂，尤以華格納歌劇廣獲好評。同時他也心繫故鄉，將威爾士民謠帶上舞臺。其藝術成就為他奠定歌劇巨擘地位，更獲英國女王封爵。

本次來臺，布萊恩．特菲爾以「諸神與魔鬼」為題，攜手指揮大師梵志登與長榮交響樂團，再度演繹歌劇生涯中的經典角色。從華格納《女武神》的眾神之王沃坦，到古諾《浮士德》的魔鬼梅菲斯特，特菲爾將透過迷人的聲線、豐沛的戲劇張力，引領樂迷進入一段神鬼、宿命與救贖的音樂旅程。

For three decades, legendary Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel has captivated countless music fans worldwide with his powerful voice and artistry. After showcasing his talent at Europe's major vocal competitions, he conquered the opera world, gaining fame especially for his performances in the Wagner operas. He maintains a deep connection with his homeland and has brought Welsh folk songs to the stage. Moreover, his artistic achievements have earned him a knighthood.

This time, he brings to Taiwan Demons and Valhalla Gods, a collaboration with Maestro Jaap van Zweden and the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO). During this performance, he revisits classic operatic roles from his stellar career including Wotan, the king of the gods in Wagner's Die Walküre (The Valkyrie), and the demon Mephistopheles in Gounod's Faust. With his captivating voice and outstanding acting skills, he leads audiences on a musical journey, encountering gods and demons and stories of fate and redemption.

威爾士男中音布萊恩．特菲爾爵士以其非凡的嗓音與戲劇魅力，締造了卓越的國際音樂生涯，長年活躍於世界頂尖音樂廳與歌劇院舞臺。

他於 1989 年贏得 BBC 卡地夫世界歌手大賽（BBC Cardiff Singer of the World）藝術歌曲獎後，於 1990 年在威爾斯國家歌劇院飾演《女人皆如此》中的古列爾莫一角，正式登上職業歌劇舞臺。隔年，他分別在布魯塞爾皇家鑄幣局劇院以《魔笛》中的說書人一角完成國際首演，並於美國聖塔菲歌劇院飾演費加洛一角，完成美國首秀。在其輝煌的歌劇生涯中，他詮釋過多項重要角色，包括：《浮士德》中的梅菲斯特、《唐喬望尼》中的主角與雷波雷洛、《莎樂美》中的約卡南、《強尼．史基基》主角、《浪子的歷程》中的尼克．夏多、《唐懷瑟》中的沃爾夫拉姆、《彼得．葛林姆斯》中的巴爾斯特羅德，以及《霍夫曼的故事》中的四位反派。

Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel has forged an extraordinary international career, performing regularly on the world's most prestigious concert stages and opera houses.

After winning the Song Prize at the 1989 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, Sir Bryn made his professional operatic debut in 1990 as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte with Welsh National Opera. The following year, he made both his international operatic debut as the Speaker in Die Zauberflöte at Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and his American debut as Figaro with Santa Fe Opera. Throughout his distinguished career, he has performed roles such as Méphistophélès (Faust), both the title role and Leporello (Don Giovanni), Jochanaan (Salome), the title role (Gianni Schicchi), Nick Shadow (The Rake's Progress), Wolfram (Tannhäuser), Balstrode (Peter Grimes), and the Four Villains (Les contes d'Hoffmann).

 A Grammy, Classical Brit, and Gramophone Award winner, his extensive discography includes operas by Mozart, Wagner, and Strauss, along with over fifteen solo albums spanning Lieder, American musical theatre, Welsh song, and sacred repertoire.

Sir Bryn was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2003, received the Queen's Medal for Music in 2006, and was knighted for services to music in 2017. He holds the title of Austrian Kammersänger, was the final recipient of the Shakespeare Prize by the Alfred Toepfer Foundation, and in 2022 was honoured with a European Cultural Award at the Tonhalle, Zurich. He also received the Freedom of the City of London in 2015.

梵志登在全球三大洲廣為人知，包括在歐洲地區，他曾客席指揮阿姆斯特丹皇家音樂廳管弦樂團、萊比錫布商大廈管弦樂團、柏林國家管弦樂團、巴黎管弦樂團、維也納愛樂樂團、柏林愛樂樂團和倫敦交響樂團。在美國，他則與芝加哥交響樂團、克利夫蘭管弦樂團、舊金山交響樂團、洛杉磯愛樂樂團及其他著名樂團合作。

梵志登曾錄製超過 50 張唱片，最著名的即是他與香港管弦樂團合作的華格納《尼貝龍根的指環》系列，這是香港首次演出該作品。此外，還包括與紐約愛樂錄製大衛．朗（David Lang）的歌劇作品《國家的囚徒》的世界首演，以及朱莉婭．沃爾夫（Julia Wolfe）獲得葛萊美獎提名的作品《我口中的火焰》。其備受讚譽的還有《羅恩格林》、《紐倫堡的名歌手》和《帕西法爾》的傑出演出，《帕西法爾》更為他贏得了 2012 年著名的愛迪生獎之最佳歌劇錄音獎，以 CD 和 DVD 形式發行。

Jaap van Zweden is a master builder who 'hears a vision' for an orchestra and then works to achieve it. His artistic mastery has served him and the orchestras he has guided in good stead. Included among these would be his recent past music directorships: the New York Philharmonic where he championed and then, in 2022, inaugurated the transformation of New York's David Geffen Hall; Hong Kong Philharmonic which he led to international prominence; and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra which earned national acclaim under his direction. His current positions include becoming Music Director in 2024 of the Seoul Philharmonic, as well as starting in 2025 as Taiwan's Evergreen Symphony Orchestra Artist-in-Residence. In the fall of 2026, he adds Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.

Widely recognized on three continents, Jaap van Zweden appears as guest with, in Europe, Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Orchestre de Paris, Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, and London Symphony Orchestra, and, in the United States, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and other distinguished ensembles.

Among Jaap van Zweden's over 50 recordings is the Hong Kong Philharmonic in first-ever performances in Hong Kong of Wagner's Ring Cycle, released on the Naxos label. To this is added the New York Philharmonic recordings of the World Premiere of David Lang's prisoner of the state (2020), and Julia Wolfe's Grammy-nominated Fire in my mouth (2019), both released on the Decca Gold label. Plus, his acclaimed performances of Lohengrin, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, and Parsifal — the last of which earned him the prestigious Edison Award for Best Opera Recording in 2012 — are available on CD and DVD.

長榮交響樂團 Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO)

2002年，張榮發基金會成立所屬長榮交響樂團，成為臺灣唯一、也是國際間少數由民間法人機構營運的職業交響樂團。

長榮交響樂團立足臺灣、關懷本土也放眼世界，致力培養並吸納優秀的音樂人才，同時以讓大眾欣賞並體驗古典音樂的美好為己任。2001年草創初期，張榮發基金會邀請多位中外音樂家、國際知名藝術顧問，合力促成20人編制的長榮樂團。2002年，擴編編制達71位團員，並正式命名為「長榮交響樂團」。

長榮交響樂團首任音樂總監為林克昌（2002-2004），第二任總監為王雅蕙（2004-2007）。德籍指揮家葛諾．舒馬富斯接手第三任音樂總監，並擔任樂團首席指揮（2007-2023）。他曾任慕尼黑室內獨奏樂團、慕尼黑愛樂樂團和司徒加特廣播交響樂團的客座指揮。2025年1月起，禮聘國際著名指揮家梵志登出任樂團駐團藝術家。

長榮交響樂團追隨長榮航空和長榮海運的腳步，讓臺灣接軌全世界，目前正攜手世界知名的指揮家梵志登，共同致力於樂團發展，並以延續及向外傳遞臺灣文化為使命。長榮企業與長榮交響樂團創辦人皆為張榮發先生，他的領導精神深刻於其間。

Founded in 2002 under the auspices of the Chang Yung-fa Foundation, the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO) is the only professional orchestra in Taiwan overseen by a private foundation, and one of but a few of its kind internationally.

With a mandate, rooted in Taiwan and open to the world, of employing and training outstanding musical talent, the ESO's mission is to offer excellent classical music experiences to a broad public.In 2001, the Chang Yung-fa Foundation invited musicians and eminent international arts consultants to help form the Evergreen Orchestra, initially numbering 20 members. In 2002, this group was expanded into a full symphony orchestra of 71 members known as the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO). 

Its first two music directors were Kek-tjiang Lim (2002-2004) and Ya-hui Wang (2004-2007). From 2007 to 2023, the post of music director and chief conductor was held by Prof. Gernot Schmalfuss, former guest conductor of the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra. Starting January 2025, the ESO welcomes the internationally renowned conductor Jaap van Zweden as its Artist-in-Residence.

Following in the footsteps of the Evergreen Group, whose EVA Air and Evergreen Lines have blazed many trails for linking Taiwan with the rest of the world, the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, now working with internationally renowned conductor Jaap van Zweden, looks forward to building the Orchestra, with the goal of continuing a tradition of exporting Taiwan's culture.  The Evergreen Group, along with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra – a subsidiary of the Chang Yung-fa Foundation, were all started by Chang Yung-fa, the guiding spirit behind Evergreen.
